History

IONEX d.o.o., a Slovenian pioneer in the field of ionization, was founded in 2003. The company develops and manufactures top-quality products featuring unique carbon brush technology and the highest emission of negative ions, proven to destroy viruses (as confirmed by Professor Oxford from a medical institution in London). With its innovative ION Therapy, IONEX entered the field of medicine, offering cures for allergies, asthma, and high blood pressure — all without side effects. The company’s achievements and international scientific research were presented in the first Slovenian book about ionization, authored by Lorena Leonardos, titled “Negative Ions as a Way of Healing – Evidence from World Institutes.”

The owner of IONEX d.o.o., innovator Lorena Leonardos, was nominated for Entrepreneur of the Year in 2005, even before establishing IONEX, through her first company founded in 1990. It was the first time a self-standing woman had been nominated — all previous nominees were accompanied by male representatives (document: Entrepreneurial Role Model).

The European Community confirmed the excellence of IONEX products by awarding the company first prize in the HORIZON 2020 project among 2,589 applicants (according to Government Europa publication) for its patent “Air Ionizer for Installation in Automobiles.”

The Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Slovenia (GZS) awarded Lorena Leonardos the Silver Award for the innovation “Built-in, Patented Negative Ion Emitter from a Carbon Brush in Transport Vehicles,” which helps drivers achieve better concentration, reduced stress, and consequently safer driving.

IONEX is the only manufacturer of ionizers certified for saunas, resistant to high temperatures and humidity, as well as the only producer of audio ionizers designed for recording studios.

The vision of IONEX is to improve and enrich air quality in homes, offices, halls, kindergartens, schools, healthcare institutions, and automobiles. We are exposed daily to the only element essential for our survival — air. Recognizing that clean and fresh air is the foundation of a healthy life, IONEX has focused its mission on improving air quality and studying the effects of negative ions on the human body. By collaborating with leading global institutions, IONEX strives to expand its innovations for the benefit of all people.

Achievements & innovation

We have developed many different solutions, adapted to specific environments:

The most powerful and smallest air ionisers for living and working environments (Potential, IONEX, Sanozen and Primus models), especially suitable for people with allergies, asthma, hypertension
IONEX portable air ioniser for cars (12V) and trucks (24V)
We have developed an IONISATION CHAMBER for allergy and asthma patients. Negative ion therapy drastically reduces histamine levels, which increase in these diseases. Fantastic results can be achieved without unwanted side effects. The chamber is also used for therapies for athletes to help them recover their muscles faster, improve their immune system and vitality to achieve better results.
The SAUNA model has been developed for use in hot and humid environments such as spas, saunas, wellness and rehabilitation centres.
The AUDIO model is tailored for recording studios and concert venues and is designed to improve the purity, clarity and colourfulness of sound.
With the collaboration of medical institutes, we have developed ionisation for oxygen masks used in the post-operative rehabilitation of cardiac patients on room wheels.
Recently, a new ionisation element has been developed for integration into air conditioning, ventilation and purification systems to purify the air and enrich it with negative ions. It can be used e.g. in clean rooms, laboratories, work halls, warehouses. The IONEXAir project is mainly aimed at the air conditioning (HVAC) and automotive industries. The IONEXAir project has also recently been supported by the European Union, having received funding from the Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme [SMEInstrument Phase 1][Euratom research and training programme 2014-2018] under contract No 809132.

FULFILLMENT OF MY VISION

Years ago, smoking was allowed everywhere, even in hospitals and cinemas. I was constantly exposed to unpleasant cigarette smoke, even in my parents' home, which led to numerous respiratory problems. This inspired me to look for a solution.

During my research, I discovered the effects of negative ions, which effectively remove smoke from the air. That was the moment the vision of my life was born: to allow people to live in clean, negative-ion-enriched air indoors.

With my innovative, patented carbon brush, which produces the highest concentration of negative ions without harmful ozone, I made ION THERAPY possible. Soon I began receiving enthusiastic feedback from people who experienced relief from allergies, asthma, and high blood pressure. Their stories were published in my book "Negative Ions as a Method of Healing – Evidence by world Institutes", providing doctors and medical institutions with insights into this revolutionary therapy.

Knowing that I have created something that can improve the health and quality of life for many people fills me with optimism and pride. Many of my innovations have been recognized by prestigious institutions – an achievement that gives me great satisfaction.
